I grew up, second among five siblings, in a house filled with classical music and dedicated to the love and appreciation of literature. I was inexplicably attracted to drawing and as far as my early memories go back, I recall having pencil, chalk or color crayons in my hand.
Surrounded by music and books I spent countless hours alone in the attic room of our old house, drawing away in an attempt to make my imaginary world spring to life.
Born into a dynasty of lawyers I predictably pursued a formal legal education although brush, pen or pencil were never far away.
Shortly after graduating I realized that, for me, being fully immersed in creating art was the only sensible way to celebrate life fully. I decided to pursue my dream and become a professional artist, to share my vision of a universe in color and light with the world, while inspiring others to partake of beauty through my art. I never looked back!
Early, travels throughout Southern Europe, North Africa and Asia provided the main source of inspiration; traveling and painting became an inseparable duo. Progressively, my distinctive style prevailed over the subject matter.
Art collectors, enticed by an unconventional, almost provocative approach to watercolor and acrylics seemed charmed by a vast array of subject matter; by an often mural-sized format and by the a constant evolution of expression and technique.
Critics too underscored the broad thematic explorations, the juxtaposition of denseness and transparency and the dance of texture, light and movement.
It has been wonderfully rewarding to be a gallery artist. Yet, after 20 years, I started to grow restless to connect personally with individuals who respond so positively to my art. I began to increasingly enjoy the excitement and joy of pursuing commissioned work and the lasting friendships it brings, as well as other alternative venues that help me share my art with all.
I hope that my story and my art will inspire you to live your dream, to fearlessly pursue your passion and to bring your light to the world!

Born in Ghent, Belgium Cecile has been painting since early childhood.
After completing a formal education as a lawyer and following a brief career in the international environmental arena, she decided to devote her life to painting.
The renown Belgian painter Jacques Wolmans profoundly influenced the young artist, acting as a de facto mentor. He urged her to forgo a formal art education, which, he believed would tamper with the spontaneity of her expression and with her emerging style.
Within two years of their initial encounter Cecile had her first solo show in a popular Brussels gallery, L’Angle Aigu.
For the next twenty years she went on to have biennial solo gallery exhibitions throughout Europe.
Cecile has been actively involved in group exhibitions with organizations such as the European Institute for Watercolor and participated in international salons, fairs and juried events such as the Salon d’Automne in Paris, France and the Lineart International Art Fair in Ghent, Belgium.
She organized a number of fundraising events around her art, benefiting the World Wildlife Fund and other non-profit organizations or institutions.
Cecile’s paintings are part of private and corporate collections worldwide.
Her work has been featured in numerous European newspapers and magazines.
In 1997 Cecile moved to the United States. Her work has been displayed in high-end galleries across the Western United States, while she continued to honor her gallery engagements in Europe.
Since 2005 Cecile has prioritized her time on commissioned work and private showings in combination with fundraising activity.
